Removal
1. Remove the rear wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Section 204-04 for additional information.
2. Using an appropriate spring compressor, compress the spring.

3. Disconnect the shock absorber from the wheel knuckle.

WARNING: The spring is under extreme tension; always be careful! Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury.
Remove the spring.

5. If the spring is to be removed from the spring compressor, mark the position of the spring compressor relative to the spring to facilitate installation.
Installation
NOTE: Final tightening of the lower shock absorber mounting bolt should be performed with the vehicle resting on its own wheels.

CAUTION: Make sure the upper spring seat support is installed and the spring ends are properly seated in the upper and lower spring seats.
Install the spring.
2.
NOTE: Do not fully tighten the lower shock absorber mounting bolt at this stage.
Connect the shock absorber to the wheel knuckle.

3. Install the rear wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Section 204-04 for additional information.
4. Tighten the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.
