Rear Window Wiper Motor — Removal and Installation (Focus 1)

Removal

CAUTION: Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Section 414-01 for additional information.

NOTE: Make sure the wiper motor is in the off position.

Remove the windshield wiper arm.

• Lift the plastic cover and loosen the nut about two turns.
• Lift the wiper arm and remove it from the conical element by sliding it to the side.
• Unscrew the nut and remove the windshield wiper arm.

2. Remove the cover.

• Remove two bolts.
• Disconnect ten clamps.

3. Remove the windshield wiper motor.

• 1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
• 2. Remove the ground wire.
• Remove three bolts.

4. Remove the windshield wiper motor from the bracket.

Installation

1.

NOTE: Make sure the wiper motor is in the off position.

Install the elements back in place in reverse order.

2. Check the operation of the windshield wipers.
