Experienced amateurs can even detect a single defective injector on their own. Start the engine to idle and then alternately loosen the union nut of the injection pipeline for a short time. If the number of revolutions remains unchanged for any injector, despite the loosened pipeline, then the injector or valve of the corresponding cylinder is faulty. In addition, you can recognize defective injectors by the following symptoms:
- regularly faulty glow plugs,
- constant black smoke from the muffler,
- increased fuel consumption,
- the engine often overheats,
- harsh combustion noises (loud knocking in the engine),
- power reduction.
