Regular polish care

Regular varnish care is a job that pays off, as the dull, weathered surface of the varnish makes the Focus unattractive to you and others: when selling a car, a poorly maintained body «take revenge» loss of several thousand. In the beginning, new varnish is easy to care for, regular washing is enough, quickly removing stone marks, resin stains and insect residues. Later, when water droplets with undefined edges no longer bounce off a freshly washed car, it's time to care for the varnish. Sun, rain, salt, dirt and other environmental poisons have damaged the surface of the lacquer.

Miracle remedy - nail polish cleaner

Which product is suitable for caring for your Ford depends on its condition. For a new and well-preserved varnish, a soft polish is sufficient. It smoothes the varnish layer, which has become rough due to the influence of the environment and mechanical stress. In addition, modern varnishes are made with wax components that preserve the metal dress. But for a new varnish, intensive cleaners are a real poison; for old and ruined lacquer, this is the right product to get brilliant results.

Always worth a try - thorough polish care

The lacquer cleaner has the effect of polish, but its mixture contains abrasive materials that can cope with even the toughest dirt. Try a good nail polish remover before you refinish your weathered Focus: it's never too late to take care of your nail polish. Although lacquer cleaners, as a rule, do not contain preservative components. Therefore, in the second stage of work, cover the prepared varnish with car wax.

«I» for lacquer care products - scorching rays of the sun

It is recommended to renew the preservation of a new or prepared varnish two or three times a year. This preserves the gloss and increases the duration of the protection of the varnish. Most polishes and lacquer cleaners are quite aggressive in sunlight. So it's best to work in the shade or in the garage where the chemicals in the polish won't have a chance to corrode your Focus's polish beyond measure.

Stages of work

Thoroughly wash and dry the car before starting to care for the varnish.

First, in a relatively inconspicuous place, check whether the varnish tolerates polish. Be careful with nail polish cleaners: only apply them in a thin layer, too much cleaner will remove more polish than needed. It is better to do this in several stages.

Apply polish or nail polish remover with cotton or synthetic wadding (a swab the size of a fist) or soft cloth (non-synthetic cloth). Pressing gently, rub in circular motions. Always work only on a small surface.

After a short time, a dry white coating forms, which is polished with a cotton swab in a circular motion. Be careful around the edges of the old polish: don't work too long on the same spot, or you could wear the polish down to a primer.

Divide the body into sections of about half a square meter. If the surface is larger, then you will not have time to polish. Dried polish is difficult to process.

Turn the cotton swab over or replace it regularly, as its surface becomes clogged with wax particles and care products after a while.

At the end, wipe the varnish with a clean cotton cloth to remove any remaining care product and cotton particles.

In order for the varnish to appear transparent and without shadows, the white coating is supported to a shine by pressing on a large cotton swab. If polishing movements are difficult, turn the cotton swab over or replace it.

If the preservative almost repels the varnish during application, the surface tension of the varnish is still too high. In this case, try using a soft polish before conservation.

At the end, wipe the varnish surface with a clean cotton rag. This will remove any remaining plaque and, of course, cotton wool fibers.

Varnish Preservative

Apply car wax with a cotton swab. The size of the treated surface depends on the product used. Be careful: preservatives contain a high proportion of solvents. Therefore, take care of sufficient ventilation in enclosed spaces.

Apply preservative with a cotton swab in a circular motion with light pressure: an even application increases the deep shine.

The cotton wool should slide over the varnish with little resistance. Therefore, turn over the cotton more often and replace it in a timely manner.

If stripes or circles are visible on the varnish after conservation, then most often the cause is contaminated paint particles that remained after the previous varnish. Repeat the process in these areas.
