General information

These models use "carrier" body. This chapter covers only the general practice of body care, as well as some repair operations.

Body - maintenance

1. It is recommended to steam clean the underbody once a year or every 12,000 miles. Then you should carefully inspect the bottom for rust and damage. Pay special attention to the wheel arches.

2. Clean up the appeared rust to the metal, then paint over with anti-corrosion paint.

Vinyl trim - care

Do not clean vinyl trim with detergents, caustic soaps, or gasoline-based solvents. For this purpose, ordinary soap and water should be used. After cleaning, a special protective compound for rubber and vinyl should be applied.

Upholstery and rugs - maintenance

1. Every three months, remove the carpet and clean the bottom underneath (if necessary - more often). Upholstery and rugs should be vacuumed to remove dirt and dust.

2. Leather upholstery requires special care. Stains should be removed with warm water and a very mild soap solution. Do not use alcohol, gasoline, nail polish remover to clean leather upholstery.

3. After cleaning, the leather upholstery should be waxed.

Body repair for minor damage

Given the well-known nature of this procedure, its description is not included in this publication.

Body repair - major damage

Serious damage to the body should be repaired in a workshop that has the appropriate equipment. Only specialized equipment allows you to perform such work with high quality. If the damage is extensive, the body geometry should be checked.

Hinges and locks - maintenance

Every 3000 miles or once every three months it is necessary to lubricate with a few drops of candle oil or special lock lubricant all the hinges and lock blocks of the hood and trunk doors. Lubricate the locks of the trunk and doors with sprayed graphite grease. The door latch stops should also be lightly lubricated to reduce wear and ensure free movement.
