Removing the battery (Focus Turnier 1)

            0

Before disconnecting the battery, write down all codes for your Focus, such as the radio anti-theft code, its stored stations, etc. If you forget to do this, the radio will be silent after that. In addition, the electronic control of the operating systems will "forget" most of the information. It quickly switches to the emergency program and is usually restored in driving mode (max. 16 km). To prevent this from happening to your car, go to your Ford dealer and reprogram the PCM - the procedure takes a few minutes.

This advice applies to all work that involves disconnecting the battery.

Stages of work

Remove the battery cover. To avoid a short circuit, first disconnect the negative battery cable. To do this, loosen the clamp nut and disconnect the terminal from the battery pole.

Loosen the positive cable clamp and remove it.

Unscrew the battery mounting bracket.

Remove the battery from the engine compartment.

When installing, make sure that the battery is securely positioned on the console (shaking will crumble the lead plates).

When installing, first connect the positive wire, then the negative wire. The wire terminals cannot be mixed up, since the battery terminals have different thicknesses.

To avoid sulphation, lightly lubricate the poles with acid-protective grease Ft 40v 1 (Bosch) or Vaseline.

Please re-enter the radio anti-theft code.
