The fuel injection system contains a CAV Roto Diesel fuel distribution pump.

Fuel tank



The fuel tank, stamped from a steel sheet, is located under the bottom in front of the rear axle of the car.

Capacity: 42 dm3.

Fuel type: diesel fuel.

Fuel filter



The fuel filter contains a replaceable element and a sump.

Make and type: Ford EFG 24 or Lucas 7176-902.

Air filter



Make and type: Motorcraft EFA 199.

Fuel pump



The rotary fuel injection pump is equipped with a hydraulic injection advance angle corrector on a cold engine. The pump is driven by a separate toothed belt.

Brand and type:
  • RFA and RFB engines: Lucas CAV Roto Diesel DPC 8443 B 431 C or DPC 8443 B 432 D;
  • RFL engines: Lucas CAV Roto Diesel DPC 8443 B 442 C or D or DPC 8443 B 444 F.

injection sequence (cylinder No. 1 from the drive side of the gas distribution system): 1–3–4–2.

Pump installation: using installation tool (see subsection 3.2.1.3.3).

Number of turns of idling: 870±20 rpm.

Max RPM (without load): 5150 + 50 rpm

Nozzles



The injectors are screwed into the cylinder head.

Nozzles: CAV RotoDiesel Lucas BDN 12S DC 6849 C RDN 12S DC 6849 C.

Atomizer type: Pinteau.

Nozzle opening pressure:
  • nominal: 14.3–15.0 MPa;
  • minimum: 14.0 MPa.

Tightness test: no fuel leakage for 10 seconds under a pressure of 12 MPa.

Pressure drop time in the nominal injection pressure range: 5–40 seconds.

Glow plugs



Type: rod.

Heating temperature: 1150°C.

Make and type: Bosch 0250 202 018 or Ford EZD 8.

Fuel pump timing belt



Brand: Motorcraft.


Tension: Adjusted automatically by roller tensioner.

Turbocharger



Brand and type: Garrett T2.

Turbo pressure: 76 kPa.
