Removing the rear suspension spring

1 - brackets for fastening brake hoses, 2 - lower shock absorber mount, 3 - fastening of the rear axle beam to the body, 4 - axis of rotation of the lever

Withdrawal

1. Remove the protective cap of the rear wheel and loosen the wheel nuts.

2. Raise and secure the rear of the vehicle, remove the appropriate rear wheel.

3. Remove brake drum (see subsection 10.3).

4. Using a wrench, unscrew the four bolts securing the housing (5, see fig. Rear suspension) wheel hub bearings by rotating the rear wheel hub so that its holes are located on the continuation of the axis of the individual bolts of the hub bearing housing.

5. Remove the plastic casing of the outer drive axle shaft from inside the brake disc carrier after lifting the clamping rings on the bolt heads with a screwdriver and unscrewing the casing fastening bolts.

6. Remove the entire axle shaft through the rear brake carrier, guiding it straight and holding it so that it does not hang down.

7. Remove the U-lock and remove the brake hose (without disconnecting it) from the holder under the bottom near the wheel.

8. Place a jack under the suspension arm and raise the arm so that the entire load is on the suspension spring.

9. Unbolt the lower shock absorber (berlin body) or remove shock absorber (combi body).

10. Unscrew the bolts securing the rear axle beam to the body from the corresponding side after bending the safety gasket and unscrewing the bolt securing the metal-rubber bushing (8, see fig. Rear suspension), as well as two bolts securing this bushing to the body.

11. Carefully lower the lever.

12. Remove the suspension spring together with the rubber support cup.

Installation

1. Install the spring together with the rubber support cup on the suspension arm.

2. Raise the jack in order to put the spring in its proper place.

Attention! In vehicles with a combi body, a shock absorber must be installed at the same time as the spring.

3. Attach the metal-rubber bushing of the rear axle beam to the body by tightening its fastening bolts to the appropriate torques.

4. Install the lower shock mount (in vehicles with a combi body), as well as the connection of the brake hose on the holder of the body and fix it.

5. Take out the jack.

6. Install axle shaft with wheel hub. Attach the wheel hub with four new bolts to the suspension arm, tightening to the correct torque.

7. Install the plastic casing of the outer drive joint of the axle shaft from inside the bearing brake shield.

8. Install the brake drum.

9. Install the wheel, tighten the wheel nuts, lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque.
