Rear suspension
1 – rear axle beam, 2 – wishbone, 3 – shock absorber, 4 – suspension spring, 5 – wheel hub bearing housing, 6 – tapered bearings, 7 – sealing ring, 8 – metal-rubber beam bushing, 9 – metal-rubber lever bushing
1. Unhook the trunk trim piece (Berlin body) or tilt the back of the rear seat forward and unscrew the trunk bottom cover from the front (combi body), and also remove the upper shock absorber mount cover.
2. Raise and secure the vehicle.
3. Using a suitable lift, support the lever through a wooden block.

4. Unscrew the upper shock absorber mounting bolt (in cars with a Berlin body, in the photo) or unscrew the upper shock absorber mounting nut, while simultaneously holding the shock absorber rod with an Allen key (in cars with a station wagon body).
5. Unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting bolt (in cars with a Berlin body) or unscrew the lower shock absorber mounting nut (in cars with a station wagon body) and remove the shock absorber downwards.
6. To install the shock absorber, perform the steps in reverse order to the removal process.
