Removal
1. Apply the parking brake, loosen the wheel nuts, and then jack up the front of the vehicle and support it on stands. The gap between the cross beam and the ground must be at least 500 mm.
2. Remove the front wheel on the side you are interested in.
3. Unscrew the bolt and disconnect the bracket that holds the front brake hose from the shock absorber.
4. Remove the cotter pin securing the ball joint at the end of the tie rod to the steering knuckle pivot arm. Loosen the castle lock nut, then release the ball joint cone using a suitable ball joint puller.
5. If equipped, disconnect the stabilizer bar from the lower control arm (see Section 10).
6. With the jack placed under the control arm, lightly jack up the control arm to support its weight.
7. Unscrew the four bolts and disconnect the shock absorber from the steering knuckle. Support the steering knuckle to avoid placing excessive pressure on the lower control arm ball joint.
8. Slowly lower the jack under the suspension arm. Remove the coil spring and upper rubber cushion.
9. Inspect the upper rubber cushion and replace it with a new one if there is the slightest sign of damage or deterioration.
Installation
10. Install the rubber cushion onto the top end of the coil spring, then install the spring between the cross member and the suspension arm. Hook the end of the spring into the mounting groove in the cushion. Make sure the lower end of the spring is hooked into the notch in the suspension arm.
11. Raise the suspension arm with a suitable jack. Align the bolt holes that secure the steering knuckle to the shock absorber and insert the bolts. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Remove the jack from under the suspension arm.
12. If equipped, connect the stabilizer bar link to the control arm (see Section 10).
13. After installing the tie rod ball joint onto the steering arm, screw on the locking nut and tighten it to the specified tightening torque. If necessary, tighten the nut a little more to align the grooves of the nut with the hole for the cotter pin in the ball joint.
14. Connect the brake line to the bracket on the shock absorber.
15. Install the wheel and lower the car to the ground.
16. Tighten the wheel nuts to the specified torque.
