Both bushings and the ball joint of the independent front wishbone are maintenance-free (pic. 13.9). The outer ball joint is mounted in a plastic bushing filled with grease. Despite this, it is necessary to constantly check the play of the control arms with a mount, as the penetrated dirt and moisture leave their marks and act as an abrasive paste, while the ball joints break and the bushings can become rusty.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

1. Completely turn out a steering wheel.

2. Left and right, check the ball joints for damage. Check the hinge play with a mount.

3. Check the condition of both bushings in the same way. Do not forget that the bushings have a certain elasticity. If the mount moves freely without much resistance, the bushings are worn out and need to be replaced.

Experienced mechanics with the necessary equipment and tools can independently carry out the replacement. However, repairs should not be undertaken if the work is not limited to replacing the bushing or ball joint: in this case, remove the transverse arm and front suspension beam. After the repair, visit a car repair shop to have your vehicle's wheel alignment optically measured. The service center will perform this work quickly and efficiently.
