Removal and installation the gear selection mechanism (Scorpio 1)

1. Remove the negative cable from the battery.

2. In the car interior, remove the gear selector lever, ashtray, unscrew the two screws securing the center console trim, disconnect the connectors and remove the trim.

3. Remove the heater switch at the rear of the center console and unscrew the two screws securing the console trim.

4. Remove the console trim and disconnect the cigarette lighter connector.

5. Remove the two console mounting screws located under the cassette compartment and the two screws in the center and front of the console, remove the center console and its bracket.

6. Remove the four gear selector mechanism mounting bolts.

7. Raise the gear selector mechanism, remove the spring clip from the gear selector rod and remove the gear selector mechanism completely.

8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, in which case it is necessary to install the front part of the console trim under the central console, and tighten the console bracket mounting bolts only after installing the console.
