Gear shift lever mechanism — removal and installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Remove the gear shift boot and knob.

2. Remove the floor console. For additional information, refer to Section 501-12.

3. Remove the gear shift lever mounting nuts.



4. Disconnect the shift cables from the shift linkage.

• Turn the support bushings clockwise and disconnect the cables from the bracket.

5. Disconnect the gear shift cable from the gear shift lever.



6. Disconnect the selector cable from the gear selector lever.





7. Remove the gear shift lever mechanism.

Installation

1. Install the elements back in place in reverse order.

2. Adjust the shift cables. Refer to Section 308-00 for additional information.
