Inspection and verification
1. Check the customer complaint.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

3. If an obvious cause for a reported or received complaint is found, correct that cause (if possible) before moving on to the next step.
4. If the cause is not visually obvious, clarify the symptom of the malfunction and refer to the Table of Symptoms of Malfunction.
