Adjusting the selector lever cable (Focus Turnier 1)

            0

You will most often recognize a changed adjustment of the selector lever cable already when starting the engine: the engine does not start in the selector lever position "P" and/or "N". While driving, your distrust should be caused by long pauses in gear shifting or uncomfortable jerks when shifting. If you see such symptoms in your Focus with an automatic transmission, check the selector lever cable.

Stages of work

Place the selector lever in position "D".

Raise the vehicle securely.

Open the cable lock by turning it to the right. The cable should now be fully movable.

To ensure that the transmission is truly in the "D" position, check that the gear position sensor is aligned with the shift lever shaft (arrow).

After this, carefully hang the cable. The cable of the selector lever should not be taut (the markings of the gearshift sensor and the lever - the shift shaft - should match). Check this with light movements on the shift shaft.

Now you can close the cable lock by turning it to the left.
