Perfectly normal — low oil consumption

            0

Some oil is consumed by each engine. It partially enters the combustion chamber and is burned there. A leaky engine, worn valve stem gaskets, worn oil scraper rings, too large clearances between the pistons and cylinder faces, or too much clearance between the valve guide and valve stem significantly increase normal oil consumption. If your Focus engine is technically sound, you should only top up a small amount of oil during the prescribed oil change intervals (0.25-0.5 l).

Diesel engines are no exception either. But this is only if you change the oil regularly and do not overload the engine with too harsh driving style.

Blue exhaust plume - a visible sign of wear

By the blue plume of exhaust gases, you can identify one of the defects mentioned above. But even if the oil level regularly remains constant, this is also not a cause for joy: in this case, excess fuel and water condensate dilute the engine oil, its lubricating qualities weaken. This phenomenon occurs primarily in winter and mainly when driving for short distances - for a long time the engine rarely reaches operating temperature and cannot burn sediment. In such cases, you need to change the oil more often, for example, after 6,000 km or after six months.
