Fuel consumption (Transit 2)

            0

To provide comparable benchmark data, fuel consumption is measured by all vehicle manufacturers based on officially approved and strictly controlled test conditions.

These conditions are rarely present in everyday driving.

High fuel consumption is mainly due to the following factors.

Driving speed and gear selection

Driving speed and gear selection

The graph shows how fuel consumption depends on speed and gear selection. Fuel consumption increases significantly with increasing speed. Driving in lower gears to improve acceleration will significantly increase fuel consumption.

Mileage/ambient temperature

Frequent cold engine starts and short distance driving leads to a significant increase in fuel consumption.

Traffic conditions and road conditions

Driving slowly, driving uphill, making frequent sharp turns and uneven roads will negatively impact fuel consumption.

Bad habits

Rapid acceleration and hard braking lead to high fuel consumption.

Machine load

Driving a fully loaded vehicle results in high fuel consumption.

Condition of the car

Low tire pressure or improper engine or vehicle maintenance can also lead to high fuel consumption.

Tips for fuel-efficient driving:

1. Start driving immediately without warming up the engine first.

2. Gently press the accelerator pedal.

3. Change gears in time to keep the engine running at moderate speed.

4. Stay in top gear as long as possible.

5. Never drive your car in fifth gear for a long time.

6. Try to anticipate road conditions.

7 Check regularly (if necessary) adjust tire pressure.

8. Have your machine serviced regularly, preferably at a Service Center.
