Use only the fuel grades recommended below. Using poor quality fuel may cause engine damage.
The fuel filler cap can be closed and opened with the ignition key. It is painted black on cars with petrol engines and red on diesel engines.
To avoid fuel overflowing through the filler neck, stop refueling at the second automatic shutdown.
Diesel engines - "winter" and "summer" fuel
In severe cold, paraffin flakes can form in diesel fuel, causing problems when driving or making starting impossible. Therefore, start using "winter" fuel in good time. Its flow characteristics are guaranteed down to -20°C.
If you only have "summer" diesel fuel, or the ambient temperature has dropped below - 20°C, we recommend the following:
1. Add up to 30% kerosene to diesel fuel.
2. Use a special wax inhibitor to improve flow characteristics. Regarding the proportions of the mixture, follow the manufacturer's instructions. Do not use these supplements for long periods of time. This may impair engine performance and reduce driving economy.
At ambient temperatures below -20°C, gasoline can be added to diesel fuel to improve flow characteristics.
Warning: Mix gasoline and diesel fuel only in emergency situations and with caution. The fuel vapor mixture formed in the tank is highly flammable.
Never mix gasoline with more than 15% gasoline. Do not use premium gasoline. Add gasoline first, then diesel fuel.
Return to "summer" quality diesel fuel in time.
Note: A diesel fuel heater that improves flow characteristics is available for purchase at the Service Center.
Engine oil
For petrol and diesel engines we recommend Ford oil "Multigrade Super Motor Oil" according to API SG/CD specifications or oil meeting this specification with a viscosity limit of SAE 10W30, 15W40 and 20W50, Ford "XR+", SAE 10W40 (API SG/CD) or Ford "Formula S". SAE 5W50 (API SG/CD).
Review the chart below and select the oil that matches the expected ambient temperature.
For optimal engine performance, fuel economy and engine protection over a wide temperature range, we recommend Ford "XR+" oil, SAE 10W40 or Ford "Formula S" oil, SAE 5W50.
If you intend to use other grades of oil, ensure that they have the appropriate viscosity ranges and meet API SG/CD specifications.
When adding oil, never exceed the "MAX" mark on the dipstick.
Gearbox oil and transmission fluid
Manual transmission
Use Ford transmission fluid or transmission fluid that meets Ford specification ESDM-2C 186-A. The transmission is maintenance-free. No oil changes are required.
Automatic transmission and power steering
Use Ford transmission fluid or fluid that meets specification ESP-M 2C 166-H. Do not fill fluid above the "MAX" mark on the dipstick.
During vehicle servicing at the Service Center, the level of the working fluid in the automatic transmission will be measured. If you still need to check the fluid level between services, do so according to the instructions.
Rear axle
Ford SAE 90 API/GL5 hypoid oil or oil meeting Ford specification SRM-2C-9102-A (without limited slip differential) and ESWM-2C-104-A (with limited slip differential).
The rear axle does not require any maintenance and there is no need to change the oil. Just top it up to the required level.
Coolant
Use 50% water and 50% Motorcraft Super Plus 4 antifreeze or antifreeze meeting Ford specification ESD-M97B-49A.
When the engine is cold, the coolant level should reach the MAX mark. Coolant expands as the engine warms up and may rise above the MAX mark.
Provided that the coolant meets the correct specification and that the components are mixed in the correct proportions, there is no need to change the coolant during the life of the vehicle.
Brake fluid
Use Motorcsaft brake fluid "Special Brake Fluid DOT4" meeting Ford specification SAM-6C 9103-A, or "Super Brake Fluid DOT4" according to Ford specification ESD-M657-A.
The brake fluid level should reach the MAX mark if necessary.
Note: Brake fluid should be replaced every three years.
Care must be taken to ensure complete cleanliness when adding brake fluid. Any dirt that gets into the braking system can lead to malfunctions.
Windshield washer fluid
Fill the reservoir with Motorcaft Screen Washer and water at a ratio of 1:100. In low outside temperatures, use Motorcaft Winter Windscreen Washer, which contains antifreeze.
