Checking the cooling system for leaks

Are the water hoses on the radiator, on the engine and to the heating radiator tight? You can easily recognize leaks by the white sediment around the leaky area.



Check: Vigorously flush the heated coolant hoses. This is the only way to detect possible cracks or other damage.

Replace stiff, brittle or cracked hoses immediately. You will establish the actual condition by visual inspection or, even better, by stretching the hoses.

Do the ends of the hoses sit tightly on their fittings?

Are all hose clamps securely fastened? If not, then while driving and when the engine is warm, the ends of the hoses may slip off the connecting pipes. Rusty hose clamps should be replaced immediately.
