The engine is losing coolant (Focus Turnier 1)

If the engine has lost a large amount of coolant during a trip, do not add cold water under any circumstances: the hot engine will experience cold shock, which in extreme cases may even rupture the engine block or deform the cylinder head.

In the first case, the engine will be prematurely scrapped, otherwise the cylinder head gasket will no longer provide a seal, the coolant will leak out and mix with the engine oil into an emulsion that is incapable of lubrication. Therefore, give your Focus enough time for its engine to cool down, and only then add water. In any case, have a specialist determine the cause of the coolant loss.
