Cooling liquid

Coolant (coolant) in Focus consists of a mixture of antifreeze, anti-corrosion agent and water. Ford fills the factory with a coolant that is approximately 50% coolant concentrate (ESDM-97B49-A) and 50% water. This is sufficient for reliable protection down to approximately -30°C. The liquid begins to gel only at -38°C (pour point) - a value that in our latitudes most often has only a theoretical value. Most coolants lose their effectiveness after about four years and must be replaced at the latest.

Commercially available antifreezes are suitable for refilling, which, according to the manufacturer's instructions, must be mixed with water. Be careful with cheap products: they do not always contain effective anti-corrosion agents and can also corrode light alloys. It is best to use only products that meet Ford specifications.
