Unscrewing the bolt of the tensioner of the DOHC engine oil pump drive chain

Withdrawal

1. Remove ground wire from battery.

2. Remove the alternator drive belt.

3. Loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt. To avoid turning the crankshaft when unscrewing the pulley, it is necessary to fix the flywheel by the teeth of the ring gear or engage fifth gear and the assistant press the foot brake all the way.

4. To improve access, remove the radiator, as it is difficult to remove the crankshaft pulley with the radiator installed.

5. On fuel injected engines, remove the crankcase breather hose, collection chamber and air cleaner housing.

6. Partially unscrew the bolt securing the crankshaft pulley and, using a puller, remove the pulley. The grips of the puller must rest against the metal part of the pulley.

7. Unscrew the 11 mounting bolts and remove the bottom cover of the gas distribution mechanism. Remove rubber seal.

8. Unscrew the bolt and remove the oil pump drive chain tensioner.

9. Unscrew the sprocket mounting bolt on the oil pump and remove the sprocket together with the chain.

10. unscrew 4 bolts (indicated by arrows) and remove the oil pump from the cylinder block.

Installation

1. Thoroughly clean mating surfaces of cylinder block and oil pump.

2. Pour engine oil into the pump, install a new gasket on the pump, install it on the cylinder block and screw the mounting bolts, tightening them to the required torque.

3. Further operations are performed in the reverse order of removal.
