Starting the engine after major repairs (Scorpio 1)

            0

1. After installing the engine in the vehicle, check the oil and coolant levels.

2. Remove the spark plugs and turn off the ignition system.

3. Crank the engine with the starter until the oil pressure warning light goes out.

4. Screw in the spark plugs and connect the ignition system.

5. Start the engine and check the tightness of all systems. Engine smoking is normal, as the oil that got on the parts during engine assembly burns off.

6. The hydraulic valve lifters will make a knocking sound for some time until they are completely filled with oil.

7. Check the ignition timing and idle speed.

8. After running the engine for several minutes, recheck the oil and coolant levels.

9. If the engine has been fitted with new pistons, rings or crankshaft bearings, the engine should be treated as new and run in, then the engine oil and filter should be changed.
