Note: When removing the rear suspension beam, you must have assistants who will hold and lower the beam.
You will need: 15 and 18 mm wrenches, a 15 mm socket head, and an extension.
1. Remove the rear wheels.
Caution! Loosen and tighten the wheel mounting bolts only with the vehicle on the ground. The tightening torque of the bolts is 90 N·m (9 kgf·m).
2. Remove the brake pipes from the rear suspension beam (see "Replacing brake pipes").
Note: Use special wrenches to loosen the nuts on the tubes, as the nuts are tightly tightened and usually corroded, causing the edges of the nuts to become crushed when using regular wrenches.
3. Remove the rear suspension springs (see "Replacing the rear suspension spring").
4. Remove the parking brake cables from the holders on the rear suspension beam (see "Replacing the parking brake cables").
5. Remove three bolts securing the rear suspension beam brackets on each side…
6. …and remove the beam assembly with brackets.
7. Loosen the nuts of the beam mounting bolts to the brackets, holding the bolts from turning with a second wrench, and remove the brackets.
8. Install the rear suspension beam in the reverse order of removal. The bolts securing the beam to the brackets should be finally tightened with the vehicle standing on the ground.
9. After installing the beam, bleed the brake system (see " "Adjusting the parking brake drive").
