Removal and installation of wheel mudguards and fender liner

In the arches of the front and rear wheels, fenders are installed that protect the body from the abrasive effects of sand and stones thrown by the wheels. Mudguards mounted behind the front wheels protect the body sills. Rear mudguards protect following vehicles from being damaged by stones flying out from under the rear wheels.

You will need: Flat and Phillips screwdrivers, socket head and wrench «on 10», TORX key T25.

Note. The work is shown for the mudguards and fender liner on the left side of the car. The right mud flaps and wheel arch liners are removed and installed in the same way.


Note. Before removing the mudguards and fender liner, you must first remove the corresponding wheel.




Mudguard front wheel fixed with three holders. To remove it, follow the steps below.



1. Prying off the spring clips of the mudguard holders with a screwdriver..




2.... remove the holders..



3.... and mudguard.

4. Install the front wheel mudguard in the reverse order of removal.

To remove the front fender perform the following operations.

1. Remove the front wheel mudguard (see above in this subsection).



2. Prying with a screwdriver, pull out the retainer of the front lower fastening of the fender liner to the front bumper..




3.... and remove the piston.



Note. Replace damaged piston.




4. Turn out five screws of fastening of a forward fender liner..



Note. This is how the front fender mount screws are located.





5.... and remove the fender liner by removing its three spring clips (shown in the photo by arrows) from the fender flare of the front wing.

6. Install the front fender liner in the reverse order of removal.

To remove the rear wheel mudguard perform the following operations.



1. Having unbent the rear edge of the rear fender liner, from the inside of the rear bumper, unscrew the nut of the bolt securing the mudguard to the bumper, holding the bolt with a second wrench, and remove the bolt.



2. Using a screwdriver, pry the spring clips of the two mudguard holders..




3.... remove the holders..



4.... and mudguard.

5. Install the rear wheel mudguard in the reverse order of removal.

To remove the rear fender perform the following operations.

1. Remove the rear wheel mudguard (see above in this subsection).



2. Prying with a screwdriver, pull out the retainer of the piston of the rear upper fastening of the fender liner to the rear bumper..



3.... and remove the piston.



4. Prying off the petals of the six fender liner holders with a screwdriver..



Note. This is how the rear fender holders are located.




5.... remove the holders from their latches on the body..



6.... and remove the fender liner.



Note. Using a screwdriver, remove the damaged clips from the holes in the body and replace them with new ones.


7. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
