Dismantling of a head of the block of cylinders

            0

As already mentioned, both camshafts are located in the cylinder head. Since most of the components have already been removed when removing the cylinder head, further disassembly of the head, with the exception of removing the valves, is not difficult.

If you need to replace the cylinder head, unscrew all the studs using two nuts locked on top of each other. Install an open end wrench on the lower nut and remove the studs. The new cylinder head comes complete with valves.

To disassemble the cylinder head, do the following:

- open the intake manifold (eight screws, two nuts), unscrew the camshaft position sensor and engine lug;

- unscrew the thermostat housing 1 (pic. 72), remove the sealing ring and unscrew the ignition coil 2 together with the fastener.

When removing valves, proceed as follows:

- in order not to damage the valves, the cylinder head must be placed in front and behind on two wooden logs. Otherwise, a special bracket can be fitted and screwed onto the intake manifold studs. After that, clamp the bracket in a vise;

- Compress the valve springs one by one with a valve puller (pic. 73). A universal valve puller will also work;

- after the spring has been sufficiently compressed, both valve cotters will come out of the upper part to the outside - they can be removed. Slowly unscrew the tool and remove the spring cap and valve spring. Using needle-nosed pliers or a screwdriver, you can remove the lower spring plate with the valve stem sealing ring located there. The valve must be securely locked on the other side by placing a wooden block. If you do not have a valve puller at your disposal, put a piece of pipe of a suitable diameter on the valve spring plate and tap the pipe with a hammer. In this case, the valve crackers will jump out and remain in the inner cavity of the pipe. After removal, place the valves together (in holes in a piece of cardboard with a number in front of each valve).
