Disassembling the cylinder head (Escort 4)

1. Place the cylinder head in the front and rear parts on two wooden blocks.

2. Remove the exhaust and intake manifolds together with the carburetor.



3. Compress the valve springs in order using a standard spring compressor and remove the upper spring retaining crackers. Remove the upper retainer, valve spring and valve stem seal, being careful not to damage the valve stems.

4. Remove the valves.

5. Check the condition of the cylinder head parts.
