Cylinder head bolt tightening sequence

1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the air filter by first unscrewing the 2 screws securing the filter cover and disconnecting the crankcase ventilation hose from the oil filler cap, as well as the vacuum hose from the intake manifold.
3. Drain the coolant from the engine by disconnecting the lower hose on the radiator and opening the cap on the thermostat housing.

4. Remove the hoses from the thermostat (1 – drain hose, 2 – radiator hose).

5. Remove the coolant supply hose to the carburetor automatic choke control mechanism.
.

6. Remove the carburetor throttle drive cable, having first disconnected the spring retainer 1 and unscrewed the bracket 2.
7. Remove the fuel and vacuum hoses from the carburetor.
8. Remove the crankcase ventilation and brake booster hoses from the intake manifold.
9. Remove the high-voltage wires from the spark plugs by the tips and unscrew the spark plugs.
10. Remove the electrical connectors from the coolant temperature sensor, radiator fan switch, and carburetor idle control solenoid valve.

11. Remove the heated air intake and exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold by unscrewing the bolts.
12. Remove the oil filler cap.
13. Remove the cylinder head cover, having first unscrewed the 4 bolts.

14. Remove the valve lever shaft assembly from the cylinder head by unscrewing the 4 bolts (indicated by arrows).
15. Remove the valve lifter rods. When reusing them, they must be installed in the same places, so mark the lifters with tape or stack them so that they do not get mixed up when installing.
16. Loosen the cylinder head mounting bolts in the reverse order of tightening (see Fig. Cylinder head mounting bolt tightening sequence) and remove the head from the engine.
