Disassembly of pistons and connecting rods

            0

The pistons are equipped with two compression rings and one oil scraper ring. The piston and piston pin form one unit and can only be replaced as an assembly. Piston pins and piston pin bores are divided into diameter classes and are color-coded. If, when measuring the bore diameter of a cylinder, it is determined that the cylinder must be bored by more than 0.5 mm, then all other cylinders must be bored to this size.

Since the piston pins can only be installed using a special tool, evaluate your options before separating the pistons from the connecting rods. If you can do this work yourself, proceed as follows:

Pic. 75. Pressing out the piston pin

- Press out the piston pin using a mandrel and a press. To do this, place under the piston, for example, a piece of a U-shaped profile, as shown in fig. 75;

Pic. 76. Removing or installing piston rings with pliers

- Remove the piston rings from the pistons using pliers for removing and installing piston rings, as shown in fig. 76. If you do not have these pliers at your disposal, you can carefully lift the ring out of the groove with a steel strip and circle it around to disengage the ring. Keep in mind that piston rings break easily.
