Replacement of a cuff of a cranked shaft

            0

Right cuff (by the MGR)

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Apply the parking brake. Raise the front end and place it on stands. Remove the right front wheel.

3. Remove the right front wheel locker (chapter 11).

4. Turn the accessory drive tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt from the pulleys. Carefully release the tensioner.

5. When releasing the crankshaft pulley bolt, it is necessary to fix the shaft from profiling. On manual transmission models, shift to a higher gear and have an assistant depress the brake pedal. On models with automatic transmission, remove the cover from the transmission bell. Use a power screwdriver or similar to block the faceplate ring gear while your assistant removes the pulley bolt. Do not damage teeth or adjacent components. Another fixation method is to block the pulley with a metal bar with holes bolted to the shaft pulley.

6. Turn out a bolt of a pulley and remove a washer. The bolt was plastically deformed during the previous tightening, so always use a new bolt when installing.

7. Use a puller to pull the pulley off the shaft. If the segment key does not fit well in the slot, remove it and save it.

8. Using a screwdriver, pull the cuff out of the MHR cover. Do not damage the cover and crankshaft. If the cuff is difficult to pull out, carefully drill two diametrically opposed holes in it. Screw self-tapping screws into them and pull out the cuff by the screws with pliers.

9. Wipe the cuff socket in the cover and the crankshaft toe.

10. Lubricate the bezel and lip of the seal with clean engine oil and press the seal into place by hand. Drive the collar flush with the cap using a soft-faced hammer and a bushing slightly smaller in diameter than the collar to be supported on its outside diameter. Be careful not to twist the cuff and do not damage it.

11. Lubricate the keyway in the pulley bore. Insert the key into the groove of the crankshaft nose, keeping it parallel to the shaft surface.

12. Slide the pulley onto the shaft, aligning it with the key. Press the pulley onto the shaft with the old bolt and washer. Turn out a bolt.

13. Screw in a new bolt with a washer and tighten it to the required torque with an additional turn to the required angle. To prevent the shaft from turning while tightening the bot, fix its flywheel using the method described in point 5. Please note that the bolt must be tightened in four steps, as indicated in the Technical data.

14. Disassemble the fixing device and (on models with automatic transmission) install the transmission housing cover.

15. Install the main accessory drive belt as instructed in chapter 1.

16. Install the right wing locker as described in chapter 11.

17. Install the right wheel and lower the car.

Left cuff (transmission side)

18. Remove the transmission (chapter 7A or 7B).

19. Remove flywheel or faceplate (paragraph 19).

20. Remove adapter plate from engine.

21. Using a screwdriver, pull out the cuff from the cylinder block. Do not damage the seal seat and crankshaft. If the cuff is difficult to pull out, carefully drill two diametrically opposed holes in the cuff. Screw self-tapping screws into them and pull out the cuff by the screws with pliers.

22. Wipe the cuff socket and the crankshaft.

23. Lubricate the bezel and lip of the seal with clean engine oil and press the seal into place by hand. Drive the seal flush with the cylinder block using a soft-faced hammer and a bushing slightly smaller in diameter than the seal to be supported on its outer diameter. Be careful when pushing the cuff straight so as not to damage it.

24. Establish an adapter plate on pins of the block of cylinders.

25. Replace handwheel or faceplate as directed in paragraph 19.

26. Install the transmission as indicated in chapter 7A or 7B.
