Removal and installation of an oil cooler

Withdrawal

1. The oil cooler is located on the front side of the engine between the oil filter and the cylinder block. Drain the liquid from the cooling system (Chapter 1).

2. Apply the parking brake. Raise the front end and place it on stands. Remove the mudguard from under the radiator.

3. Release collars and disconnect hoses of a cooling liquid from an oil radiator.

4. Place a container under the oil filter. Then unscrew its fasteners and remove, holding the filter vertically so that oil does not spread from it.

5 Pay attention to the location of the nozzles. Loosen the nut and remove the oil cooler from the support stud. Remove the O-ring (see fig. 16.5). Get ready to clean up oil and coolant leaks.

Installation

6. Wipe the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and oil cooler with a clean cloth.

7. Install the oil cooler with a new o-ring on the support stud. Turn the radiator housing to the position it occupied before disassembly, focusing on the hose fittings. Tighten the nut to the required torque.

8. Lubricate the oil filter O-ring with engine oil and screw it by hand onto the support stud. Wipe off all oil stains.

9. Connect the hoses and secure them with clamps.

10. Install a mudguard under the radiator and lower the vehicle to the ground.

11. Fill the engine with coolant (Chapter 1).

12. Check the oil level and top up if necessary (see Weekly checks).
