Removal

1. The oil cooler is located on the front of the engine between the oil filter and the cylinder block. Drain the cooling system (chapter 1).

2. Apply the parking brake. Raise the front end and place it on supports. Remove the splash shield from under the radiator.

3. Loosen the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the oil cooler.

4. Place a container under the oil filter. Then unscrew its fasteners and remove it, holding the filter vertically so that oil does not spill out of it.

5 Note the location of the pipes. Unscrew the nut and remove the oil cooler from the support stud. Remove the sealing ring (see Fig. 16.5). Prepare to eliminate oil and coolant leaks.

Installation

6. Wipe the mating surfaces of the cylinder block and oil cooler with a clean cloth.

7. Install the oil radiator with a new sealing ring on the support stud. Turn the radiator body to the position it occupied before disassembly, focusing on the hose pipes. Tighten the nut to the required torque.

8. Lubricate the oil filter sealing ring with engine oil and screw it onto the support stud by hand. Wipe off any oil stains.

9. Connect the hoses and secure them with clamps.

10. Place a splash guard under the radiator and lower the vehicle to the ground.

11. Fill the engine with coolant (chapter 1).

12. Check the oil level and top up if necessary (see Weekly Checks).
