Gear shift control shaft seal

General equipment:
  • Open-end wrench 16mm
  • Screwdriver

Removal


1. Engage third gear.

2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

3. Open the shift and selector cable cover.



4. Disconnect the shift and gear selector cables.
  • Disconnect the shift and selector cables from the shift and selector levers and release them from the brackets by turning the support rings clockwise.



5. Remove the shift and selector cable cover.



6. Remove the shift lever.


  • 1. Remove the protective cover and clamp.
  • 2. Remove the shift lever.



7. Remove the selector lever together with the dust cover.



8. Remove the gear selector shaft oil seal. Use a screwdriver for this operation.
  • Remove dirt and rust from the gear selector shaft.



Installation


1. Remove the dust cover from the new oil seal.


2.
CAUTION: After installing the oil seal, there should be no trace of adhesive tape remaining under the sealing lip of the oil seal.


NOTE: To protect the oil seal from damage caused by sharp edges and burrs in the bore and ring groove, wrap the selector shaft with thin adhesive tape.


Install the gear selector shaft oil seal. Use a 16mm socket.
  • Replace the dust cover.



3. Install the selection lever.



4. Install the shift lever.
  • 1. Insert the shift lever.
  • 2. Insert the clamp and install the protective cover.



5. Install the shift and selector cable cover.




6. Install the shift and selector cables.
  • Install the shift and selector cables onto the appropriate brackets, securing them by turning the support bushings clockwise. Then connect the cables to the shift and selector levers.



7. Close the shift and selector cable cover.



8. Lower the vehicle.
