Removal
1.
NOTE: Factory installed exhaust systems are a single-piece design, while service installed exhaust systems are a three-piece design.
To allow installation of the service section, the factory installed exhaust system must be cut. Before cutting any part of the exhaust system, ensure that the cutting position corresponds to the service section of the exhaust system to be installed.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.

CAUTION: Excessive bending of the flexible exhaust pipe may cause damage resulting in failure of the exhaust system.
Support the flexible exhaust pipe with a support clamp or suitable cotter pin.

4. Remove the heat shield.

5. Cut the exhaust system. For more information, refer to the Description and Operation chapter in this section.
6. Unscrew the nuts on the flange. Discard the nuts.

7. Remove the catalytic converter.
- 1. Disconnect the suspension supports.
- 2. Remove the catalytic converter.
- Discard the gasket.

Installation
1. Assemble the catalytic converter service sections.

CAUTION: The suspension supports are made of special material. Use only suitable supports (according to specification).
Position the catalytic converter.
- Use a new gasket and nuts, hand tighten the nuts.
- Apply anti-seize lubricant to the studs. The anti-seize lubricant must meet Ford specifications.
- Check the support insulator for damage and fatigue failure. Install new supports if necessary.
- When installing suspension supports, use lubricant;Lubricant must meet Ford specifications.

3. Tighten the clamp nuts.

4. Tighten the flange nuts.

5. Install the heat shield.

6. Remove the flexible pipe support.
7. Lower the vehicle.
