Removal
All cars
1.
CAUTION: If brake fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed with cold water.
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the plug connector on the filler cap.
- 1. Pull back the tongue.
- 2. Press the clamps.
- 3. Disconnect the plug connector.

CAUTION: Make sure that no dirt gets on the filler cap.
Remove the brake fluid reservoir filler cap.
4. Loosen the wheel nuts.
5. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Section 100-02 for additional information.
6. Remove the front wheels.
7. Release the nipple to remove air.
- 1.Remove the dust cover.
- 2. Release the nipple to remove air.

NOTE: Perform this procedure on both front brake lines.
Remove the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
- 1.Connect the air bleed tube to the air bleed nipple and place it in a suitable container.
- 2. Press the brake pedal until the brake fluid stops leaking.
- 3. Tighten the bleed nipple.
9. Lower the vehicle.
Except for vehicles with diesel engines
10. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Section 303-13 for additional information.
Cars with diesel engines
11. Remove the fuel filter. For additional information, refer to Section 303-13.
All cars
12. Disconnect the wiring harness plug.
13. Disconnect the wiring harness bracket.
14. Disconnect the fuel vapor lines from the body bulkhead.
15. Disconnect the pipe from the body bulkhead under the brake booster.
16. Disconnect the brake fluid supply line.
17. Disconnect the brake fluid supply line from the body bulkhead.

CAUTION: Plug the brake lines to prevent brake fluid from leaking and dirt from entering.
Disconnect the brake lines.
Cars with anti-lock braking system

CAUTION: Plug the brake lines to prevent brake fluid from leaking and dirt from entering.
Disconnect the brake lines.
Vehicles with a course stability control function
20. Disconnect the pressure sensor plug connector.
All cars
21. Loosen the wiring harness bracket nut.

CAUTION: Before removing the master cylinder, make sure the brake booster vacuum is relieved. This can be done by removing the vacuum line from the brake booster.
Remove the master cylinder.
Installation
All cars

CAUTION: Before installing the master cylinder, make sure there is a vacuum seal and the mating surfaces are clean.
NOTE: Bleed the brake system after installation. Refer to Section 206-00 for additional information.
When installing, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.
Cars with anti-lock braking system
