Vacuum brake booster — removal and installation

Withdrawal


All cars

1. Remove the main brake cylinder. See Section 206-06 for more information.

Vehicles with yaw control

2. Disconnect the plug connector for the brake booster solenoid valve.



3. Disconnect the plug connector of the hydraulic control unit (HCU).
  • 1. Loosen the lock.
  • 2.Disconnect the plug connector.

CAUTION: Plug the brake line to prevent brake fluid from leaking and dirt from entering the hose.


Disconnect the brake lines from the HCU.



5. Remove the HCU.




All cars

6. Release brake pipelines from clips on a partition.



7. Disconnect a pusher of the vacuum amplifier of brakes from a brake pedal.
  • 1.Depress the brake pedal.
  • 2.Press the clip.
  • 3. Remove the brake booster pusher pin.



8. Turn away nuts of fastening of the vacuum amplifier of brakes.




9. Remove the vacuum brake booster.

Installation


All cars

1.
CAUTION: Make sure the brake booster tappet passes through the bulkhead rubber boot correctly.


CAUTION: Before installing, make sure that the gasket on the brake booster is properly installed.


Install the vacuum brake booster.

NOTE: Do not fully tighten at this stage.


Install the brake booster nuts.



3.
CAUTION: Install a new brake booster tappet and brake pedal connection pin.


Establish a pin of a pusher of the vacuum amplifier of brakes.
  • 1.Depress the brake pedal.
  • 2.Install the brake booster push pin.



Vehicles manufactured since 01.1999


4. Disconnect the lower section of the instrument panel.
  • 1.Remove the screws.
  • 2.Release the clip.



5. Disconnect the shtekerny socket of a data transmission channel and remove the lower section of the panel of devices.



6. Remove the air duct.
  • 1.Remove the lock.
  • 2.Remove the air duct.



7. Release a bolt of fastening of the lever of return of a pedal of a brake.

CAUTION: Make sure there is clearance between the brake pedal and the brake pedal return lever to allow freedom of movement.


Align the position of the brake pedal return lever with respect to the brake pedal bracket.



All cars

9. Tighten nuts of fastening of the vacuum amplifier of brakes.



10. With the engine running, depress the brake pedal three times to make sure that the brake pedal moves freely and returns to the unused brake position.

Vehicles manufactured since 01.1999

11. Tighten a bolt of fastening of the lever of return of a pedal of a brake.



12. Install the duct.
  • 1.Install the duct.
  • 2.Fix the clip.



13. Attach the data link connector to the lower section of the instrument panel.



14. Establish the lower section of the panel of devices.
  • 1.Fix the clamp.
  • 2.Tighten the screw.



All cars

15. Fix brake pipelines on a partition.



Vehicles with yaw control

16. Install HCU.



17. Connect the brake lines to the HCU.



18. Connect the HCU plug.
  • 1.Connect the plug.
  • 2.Press the latch.



19. Connect the brake booster solenoid valve connector.



20. Establish the main brake cylinder. See Section 206-06 for more information.

21. Remove air from the brake system. See Section 206-00 for more information.
