Removal
All cars
1.
WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when working on a vehicle equipped with an air bag or when working with the air bag module. Failure to follow these instructions could result in personal injury.
Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.
2. Disconnect the lower section of the instrument panel.
- 1. Remove the screws.
- 2. Disconnect the clamp.

3. Remove the lower section of the instrument panel.
- Disconnect the electrical connector of the data transmission channel.

4. Remove the upper steering column cover.
- Disconnect the clamps (one on each side) using a thin screwdriver.

5. Disconnect the audio unit control switch (if equipped).
- 1. Disconnect the clamp using a thin screwdriver.
- 2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

6. Remove the lower steering column cover.
- 1. Release the steering column lock lever.
- 2. Remove the screws.

7. Disconnect and lower the steering column.
- Remove and discard nylon nuts.
- Remove the hex bolt.

8. Remove the instrument cluster. For additional information, refer to Section 413-01.
9. Remove the audio unit. For additional information, refer to Section 415-01.
10. Remove the glove compartment.

11. Remove the passenger air bag module. Refer to Section 501-20A / 501-20B for additional information.
12. Disconnect the decorative panel of the climate control system and audio unit.
- 1. Remove the screws.
- 2. Disconnect the clamps.

13. Remove the decorative panel of the climate control system and audio unit.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the climate control system cables.

14. Remove the ashtray.
15. Remove the heater housing panel.
- Remove the screws (left side shown, same for right side).

Cars with cell phone
16. Detach the cell phone handset holder.

All cars
17. Remove the front section of the center console.
- Remove the screws (one on each side).

18. Remove the ashtray from the rear of the center console.

19. Disconnect the rear section of the center console.

20. Move the center console back.
21. Remove the upper instrument panel mounting clips.
- 1. Install M6 x 100mm bolt.
- 2. Using a suitable tool, remove the mounting clamps.

22. Remove the side instrument panel trim panels.

23. Remove the side bolts of the instrument panel (left side shown, similarly for the right side).

24. Disconnect the instrument panel.
- Remove the bolts.
- Disconnect the de-icer lines.
- Disconnect the cable clamps.

25. Remove the instrument panel.

Installation
1. Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
