1. Connect an oil pressure gauge, with a female threaded tip of the appropriate diameter, to the gearbox housing.
2. Locate the pressure gauge in the car so that its readings can be seen from the driver's seat.
3. heat up (while the vehicle is moving) oil in the gearbox to normal operating temperature.
4. Check the oil pressure in the gearbox while the engine is idling.
5. If the pressure is too low, then check: oil level, hydrokinetic transmission, as well as the oil pump.
6. If the pressure is too high, check: engine idle speed, vacuum line between engine and gearbox drive, vacuum regulator, hydraulic control unit in gearbox, and oil pressure during engine overload test (see subsection 6.3.6).
