Cleaning the crankcase ventilation system

            0

Over time, tar deposits from crankcase gases accumulate in the crankcase ventilation system of the engine, making it difficult to remove these gases into the engine cylinders for combustion. Because of this, the pressure of the gases inside the engine rises and oil leaks through the seals. To avoid this, periodically clean and flush the system.

You will need a flat blade screwdriver.

Note. Clean the crankcase ventilation system before every oil change.

1. Remove the air filter housing (see «Checking and replacing the air filter element»).

2. Turn out ten bolts of fastening of a cover of the case of the air filter …

3.... and remove the cover.

4. Remove the crankcase ventilation filter from the groove of the air filter housing.

Note. Replace a heavily soiled filter with a new one.

5. Disconnect the hose from the pair of cylinder head cover.

6. Remove the cylinder head cover (see «Engine cylinder head cover gasket replacement»).

Note. Replace the gasket with a new one each time the cylinder head cover is removed.

7. Wash the oil deflectors, the inner surface of the cylinder head cover and its branch pipe with gasoline or kerosene.

8. Install the cylinder head cover and crankcase ventilation hoses in the reverse order of removal.
