You will need a flat-blade screwdriver.
TIP: Clean the crankcase ventilation system before every oil change.

1. Remove the air filter cover…

2. …and remove the filter element (see "Checking and Replacing the Air Filter Element").

3. Remove the crankcase ventilation filter from the air filter housing groove.

NOTE: If the filter is heavily soiled, replace it with a new one.

4. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube from the holder on the intake pipe.

5. Disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from the connecting hose…

6. …and remove the hose.

7. Lift the air filter housing by pulling it upwards, overcoming the force of the rubber bushings…

8. …and disconnect the crankcase ventilation tube from it by squeezing the locking ring.

9. Remove the crankcase ventilation tube.
10. Remove the cylinder head cover (see "Replacing the engine cylinder head cover gasket").
HELPFUL TIP: Replace the cylinder head cover gasket with a new one every time you remove it.
11. Wash the oil deflectors, the inner surface of the cylinder head cover and its pipe with gasoline or kerosene.
12. Install the cylinder head cover and crankcase ventilation hoses in the reverse order of removal.
