Location and replacement of fuses, fuses and relays

            0

Most vehicle electrical power circuits are protected by fuses. Headlights, fan motors, fuel pump and other powerful consumers are connected via relays. Fuses and relays are installed in mounting blocks, which are located in the passenger compartment behind the glove box and in the engine compartment on the left side near the battery.

Most fuses are installed in the fuse and relay box in the passenger compartment

(pic. 10.1), located under the instrument panel on the right side. The purpose of the fuses and relays is given in Table. 10.1 and 10.2.

In addition, fuses and relays are located in the mounting block installed in the engine compartment. In table. 10.3 and 10.4 indicate the purpose of these fuses and relays, but on different vehicle modifications, some of the circuits indicated in the tables may be missing.

Note. On the back of the glove box is a diagram of the location of the fuses and relays.

To gain access to the mounting block, located in the car, do the following.

1. Open the glove box..

2.... pressing the walls with your fingers and removing the travel stops on both sides, fold the glove box.

3. Before replacing a blown fuse, find out the cause of the blown fuse and fix it. When looking for a malfunction, look at the ones listed in Table. 10.1 the circuits that this fuse protects.

Attention! Do not replace fuses with jumpers or fuses of a different amperage, or homemade jumpers, as this may damage electrical appliances and even cause a fire.

4. Remove the replacement fuse with tweezers.

5. To replace a fuse, use a spare fuse of the same rating (and colors).

6. If replacement is necessary, remove the relay by rocking it from side to side.

7. Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.

To gain access to the mounting block located in the engine compartment, do the following.

You will need: key «for 8», flat blade screwdriver.

1. Remove the battery clamp (see «Removing and installing the battery»).

2. Press the lock with a screwdriver..

3.... and remove the fuse block cover.

4. Turn off two nuts of fastening …

5.... and remove the fuse.

Note. For clarity, the battery tray has been removed.

6. Install a new fuse in the reverse order of removal.

Also in the engine compartment is a relay unit, mounted on the clamping bar of the battery.

To replace the relay perform the following operations.

1. Disconnect the wire from the terminal «minus» battery.

2. Squeeze out the two latches located on the sides of the cover..

3.... and remove the cover.

4. Remove the failed relay.
