Door contact switches for interior lighting are located in the B-pillar and C-pillar door retainers. If there are malfunctions in their functioning, check the switch.
PROCEDURE |
- Use a test lamp or multimeter to check the voltage at the door contact switches.
- If no voltage is applied to them, check the fuse first.
- If the fuse is OK, check the wires from the fuse box to the door.
- Maybe, «on the way to» a wire break or a loose plug contact is detected. Also check the switch - often the contacts can be pinched or the wire lead is corroded.
- Eliminate the defect and then do not forget to move the entire switch with force on the sliding surfaces back and forth and lubricate with silicone oil.
- If the switch is strongly clamped, then clean the sliding surfaces with gasoline for washing and lightly lubricate the contacts.
- If this fails, replace the defective switch.
