Ignition Key Coding (Mondeo 3)

            0

The master key can be used to encode a spare key or a maximum of eight duplicate keys. The system is maintenance-free.

Complete the following coding steps within five seconds:

ORDER OF EXECUTION

  1. First, turn the ignition switch to position "II" using the master key and…
  2. …then turn the master key back to position "0". Now remove the master key from the ignition switch.
  3. Insert the second key into the ignition switch and turn it to position "II".
  4. Turn the second key back to the "0" position and pull it out. This will activate the coding mode. At ten-second intervals, you can repeat this process with the next uncoded key.
  5. "Allow" the newly encoded keys to remain "at rest" for about five seconds - this is how long it takes for the system to activate the key.
  6. If the coding process is interrupted, the control lamp above the clock starts to flash. In this case, wait about 20 seconds and repeat the process.
  7. At a Ford workshop, you can replace the master key or "erase" the codes from already coded keys.
