The seat furnishings are an integral part of Ford's "Interior Protection System" (IPS): their consoles are equipped with pyrotechnic belt pretensioners, which instantly tighten the seat belts during an accident, thereby minimizing the degree of slackness. If the seats are not removed correctly, the pretensioner may "ignite" and become unusable. If you decide to do the removal yourself, you should contact your Ford dealer for information on the necessary safety regulations.

Disconnect the battery and then wait for about one minute. Tilt the seat all the way back and… …pull out the main plug of the seat belt tensioner, the seat load sensor and – if installed – the plug of the video system (indicated by the arrow). Pull out the main plug of the seat belt pretensioner. Remove the front screws and… …move the seat fully forward. Remove the belt mount from underneath the seat. Remove the seat belt fastening from below (tighten to 38 Nm during installation). Unscrew both rear trims from the tires and… …unscrew the rear seat screws. Then pull the seat out of the passenger compartment. Carry out the installation in reverse order and tighten the seat screws to a torque of 25 Nm.
