The driver and passenger in the Mondeo sit on so-called «Anti-Dive». Seat furniture is a built-in component «comfortable» security systems (IPS) Ford: Their consoles are equipped with pyrotechnic seatbelt pretensioners, which immediately tighten the seatbelts during an accident and thereby reduce the degree of looseness to a minimum. If the seats are not removed properly, the pretensioner may «ignite» and become unusable. If you do decide to do it yourself, please contact your Ford dealer for the necessary safety instructions.

Reduces loose fit: Pyrotechnic seat belt pretensioner on front seats.

1 - Seat belt buckle with sensor,
2 - Pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner,
3 - Working building,
4 - Gas generator,
5 - Ignition block,
6 - Rotary element,
7 - Tensioner cable.

To prevent the seatbelt stowage and tensioning system from inadvertently operating, give a reason to unload «current voltage»: After disconnecting the battery, wait about one minute before unplugging the seatbelt stowage and pretensioner. Otherwise, the airbag and pyrotechnic pretensioner will deploy. And as a result - getting injured in addition to the large expenses for a new system kit.
