Models since 1996 are equipped with special front seats for driver and passenger. The seats are part of the Ford safety system (SRS): their consoles are equipped with pyrotechnical pre-tensioning devices that, in the event of an accident, instantly tension the belts and thereby reduce their slack (pic. 16.20). If the seats are not properly removed, the pre-tensioner may operate and be damaged. If you decide to remove the seats on your own, first consult with the service center masters about safety measures.

SEQUENCE OF WORK

2. Remove a lateral upholstery of a sled of a seat and disconnect a contact socket.

3. Move the seat all the way back and unscrew the bolts securing the front of the slide.

4. Move the seat all the way forward and unscrew the three bolts securing the rear of the slide.

5. Remove the seat from the car.
