From time to time, you should check the microclimate in your Mondeo. Dust particles, road dirt, insects or fallen autumn leaves can eventually clog the air ducts and pollen filter. Therefore, when driving on unsuitable roads, observe the following:
- Turn the heater control all the way to the stop when the engine is running at operating temperature - does warm air now come out evenly?
- Close the heater control completely. After a few kilometers, only cold air may come out of the nozzles, otherwise do not close the air flap tightly any more.
- Does the up and down air distribution function?
- Is the air coming out of all the holes evenly?
- Is the air circulation regulator working?
- Does the fan operate at all speeds?
Controls
In the Mondeo with manual temperature control, the heating and air conditioning are controlled using three rotary switches located on the centre console. The temperature, air distribution flaps and heater vents are controlled by a dedicated control unit via electronic actuators. The actuator motor for the air recirculation valve is activated by a separate pushbutton switch. In the Mondeo with automatic temperature control (option), the current control mode and the current interior temperature are shown on a digital display. Control is carried out using two interior temperature switches, two fan switches and four air flow control switches. The AC switch and air recirculation switch are pushbutton switches and are located in the decorative cover of the heater/air conditioning control unit.
