1. Remove the entire tailgate trim (see "Removing and installing the rear door trim").
2. Remove the rear window wiper (see "Replacing the rear window wiper motor").
NOTE: The tailgate is usually removed for replacement or repair, in almost all cases it is necessary to remove the windshield wiper. However, if it is not necessary to remove it, then you can just disconnect the wiring harness connector from it.

3. Disconnect the rear lid lock release button wiring harness connector.

4. Disconnect the wires from the left…

5. …and the right license plate light.

6. Disconnect the wire from the bus of the heating element of the electric heating of the rear door glass.

7. Remove the wire harness holders from the holes in the inner door panel…

8. …and the harness seal…

9. …then remove the wiring harness from the door cavity.

10. Remove the rear window washer hose seal from the door panel…

11. …and disconnect the hose.

12. Unscrew the four bolts securing the hinges to the tailgate (two on the left and right hinges) and remove the door.

HELPFUL TIP: If you are removing a door for purposes other than replacement, we recommend marking the position of the hinges (e.g. by tracing around them with a felt-tip pen).
13. Install the tailgate in the reverse order of removal.
