Removal


All cars

CAUTION: If brake fluid comes into contact with the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed with cold water.


1. Release the parking brake.

2. Remove the wheels. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.

Cars with anti-lock braking system

3. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor.

3. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor.


All cars

CAUTION: Do not remove the brake drum using the hub nut.


Remove the brake drum assembly from the hub.

Remove the brake drum assembly from the hub.


5. Disconnect the brake shoes from the wheel cylinder.

5. Disconnect the brake shoes from the wheel cylinder.


6. Remove the wheel cylinder.


  • 1. Disconnect the nipple connection of the brake pipe.
  • 2. Unscrew the bolts.

2. Unscrew the bolts.


Installation


Secure the lower control arm (right side shown).

1. Install the wheel cylinder.
  • 1.Install the bolts.
  • 2.Connect the brake pipe nipple.

2.Connect the brake pipe nipple.

CAUTION: Do not damage the wheel cylinder boots.


Connect the brake shoes to the wheel cylinder.

Connect the brake shoes to the wheel cylinder.


3. Install the brake drum assembly with the hub.

4. Install the wheel speed sensor.

4. Install the wheel speed sensor.

5. Install the wheels. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04.

6. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Section 206-00 for additional information.

7. Apply the brake pedal to perform automatic adjustment.
