The hood lock is unlocked from the front with the vehicle key. To insert the key into the lock cylinder, turn the Ford emblem located on the front grille to the left. The hood lock safety interlock is also unlocked with the vehicle key. The hood lock is mounted on the grille opening reinforcement (GOR) panel. The hood latch is secured in a strike plate which is attached to the front underside of the hood.
Hood hinges
Two hood hinges form the axis of rotation of the hood cover when it is opened and closed. The open hood cover should be fixed in a stationary position using a special support stand. The hood hinges are attached to the body and to the hood cover using two screws each.
