Ignition Lock Cylinder — Removal and Installation (Focus 1)

Removal

1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery. For additional information, refer to Section 414-01.

2. Remove the lower section of the instrument panel.

• 1. Remove the screws.
• 2. Release the clamp.

3. Disconnect the upper steering column cover.

• Release the two clamps (one on each side) using a thin-tipped screwdriver.

4. Remove the audio control switch (if equipped).

• 1. Release the locking tab using a thin-tipped screwdriver.
• 2. Disconnect the electrical connector.

5. Remove the lower steering column cover.

• 1. Release the steering column lock lever.
• 2. Remove the screws.
• Remove the ignition key.

6. Remove the ignition lock cylinder.

• 1. Insert the ignition key and turn it to position I (ACC).
• 2. Press the latch using a thin-tipped screwdriver.
• 3. Remove the lock cylinder.

Installation

1. Install the elements back in place in reverse order.
