Wash off the oxide crystals on the battery terminals with warm water and soda or remove them with a special cleaning agent, such as "Neutralon" by Varta.
Then lightly lubricate the battery terminals and the wire terminals with acid-resistant grease "Ft 40v1" (Bosch). Be careful not to let the grease get between the contact surfaces of the terminals.
